All the positive comments have come from people who have never tasted AUTHENTIC Mexican food in their life. This place advertises as AUTHENTIC by the way. Trust and believe me when I say Taco Bell is better. Portions are indeed small and flavorless, and I’m more than certain I can make the same thing at home. And to the owner…please take my advice and actually review your food, take recipes from an expert or something, and take the time and patience to make it with care. Stop arguing with the people who ARE indeed right in the comments and take that energy into making better food. Didn’t mean to come off that way but the food portions are small and the food itself is mediocre. Gas station grade at best. Please update your menu and somehow make it better to bring in more business, I say this because I care…
Everything was hot & fresh! We had some tamales and a cheese quesadilla. Everyone was really nice. They had a couple kids selling lemonade, caricatures, and headbands when we went which was so cool! They're menu is expanded, so almost everyone can choose for something to eat. They even had vegetarian options for those who don't eat meat! Great Experience overall!
Buckle up.. This is the short summary: Well overpriced lower quality food with a low quality atmosphere. The long summary: While I typically like to support local businesses, I like to think that most small businesses would be in favor of giving the customer a quality experience when visiting. Even going and doing a bit extra for the customer, so they feel encouraged to come back again and again. However, Katalina' Kitchen doesn't deliver. My wife and I visited Monroe to help my mother who just had surgery, decided to stop by the mall to grab a bite to eat. We decided on Katalina's Kitchen since it's the only restaurant left in the mall of Monroe. We had our order taken, then found out shortly after that their choice of beverages were from a room temperature can. Come on! Go the extra mile, and make sure that pop machine works and you have a stock of syrup. No excuse. And at least if you're gonna have Canned pop, at least have it refrigerated. Not doing that In the least bit is terrible for the customer experience. Then the food. Yes the food. The rice was flavorless, the beans were soupy and flavorless, both served in Styrofoam bowls. Along with my entree which was two small tamales. For 12.50 that was disappointing. Along with the drink not being included was incredibly disappointing. If you take a hit on the price a little bit to give back to the customer, the customer will come back over and over. Show the customer you care about their experience and they will always remember you and come back wanting more. Here's the conclusion. Katalina's Kitchen, don't respond to this with a "I'm sorry you feel this way" because I read the reviews after eating here and I realized many of them were right. You have potential, just do better.
I get Quesadillas every time I come to the mall and they're always hot, fresh, and delicious! I crave them and will come up to the mall just to order some. My boyfriend and I went there just yesterday and it was his first time. He loved it! Its important to support family owned businesses in this time. Taco bell might be cheaper but I'll take quality over quantity any day! Very sweet and attentive people working there. I look forward to my next Quesadilla!
Went there for food today as it’s the only place in the mall. I almost walked away as the people in the back just would not Look out at the counter to check for customers. While the prices are decent for the food quantity, I was disappointed at the minimal amount of ground beef on our nachos. I have also had an upset stomach the rest of the day since eating here. This is not how I wanted to go into Mother’s Day, but I guess I’ll be spending it in the bathroom instead of with my beloved daughter. Sad to say, this bad aftermath is enough that I won’t be returning. Spending all night on a toilet is not worth inexpensive food.
My daughter and I have enjoyed Katalina’s since it opened. Unfortunately, recently their portion sizes have decreased drastically and prices that were already on the higher end for what they provide did not decrease but stayed the same. They give you less than a tsp of salsa now with your Pritchard and a side of daisy sour cream is $0.75. Food is tasty, but I’m not to sure if it’s worth the price anymore.
The food that was home made was great the shredded chicken was very good however did not care for the queso it was very small and seemed like it was from a jar ..it was 8 dollars..also the portion sizes were very small for instance a tray of fries for 4$ is in fact not a tray it's a very small paper boat of fries .. we spent 60 after tip for 2 adults and 2 kids and none of us were full... I did really like the sweet bread as well. Staff was very freindly and helpful.
Was at Spencer's and seen this new place and gave it a try. The tacos are to die for. Recommend to everyone
